14 -- VERTICAL LAUNCH ASROC MISSILE SOL N00024-97-R-6108 POC LCDR Sidney Kim (SEA 02611K)(703)602-7706 The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to issue a long lead contract modification to Lockheed Martin, Tactical Defense Systems (LMTDS), 1200 Massillon Road, Akron OH 44315-0001 for the FY96 and FY97 USN Vertical Launch ASROC (VLA) Missile requirements. The requirements for FY96 and FY97 are anticipated to be 10 and 16 units, respectively. This long lead effort will be placed under Contract N00024-95-C-6182 with LMTDS and will, upon definitization, result in the award of a new contract to LMTDS. LMTDS is the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the VLA Missile and is the only contractor with the expertise and tooling capabilities necessary to provide the requirement.
