The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis with Astro Endyne Co., Inc., 1770 Range Street, Unit A, Boulder, CO 80301 for a quantity of 24 custom laser diode current sources. This is a continuation of an on-going prototype development which requires close end-user supervision. Building these sources requires printed circuit board fabrication, component acquisition, sheet metal fabrication (including punching, painting and silk- screening), circuit board assembly, and chassis wiring. The design & building processes are dynamic and require frequent on- site participation by NIST personnel. Therefore, vendor must be located in the Boulder area. Quality control requires a vendor to be able to handle all aspects of task completion. Astro Endyne is the only identified firm located in the Boulder area that meets the required criteria.
