NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for a diode-pumped, Nd: YAG laser to be used in a lidar system for ozone and aerosol measurements. The laser will be used to pump two dye lasers or two solid-state lasers for generating two differential absorption lidar (DIAL) laser wavelengths for ozone near 300nm and for aerosols near 600nm and at 1064nm. The laser will be used in both a laboratory setting as well as on an airplane. This procurement is being conducted under the NASA MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and FAR Subpart 13.6. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about 6/18/97 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about 7/02/97. Add Note 12 An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Note "B".
