Pittsburgh District, is interested in procuring a portable,
submersible, centrifugal type pumping unit complete with motor
controller incorporating an integral Variable Frequency Drive (VFD),
electrical cable and frame assembly. The pumping unit shall be capable
of operating in a submersed condition under a minimum of 50-feet of
water. The pump shall be capable of pumping river water at a minimum
rate of 17,000 gallons per minute at a 25-foot head and 13,500 gallons
per minute at a 30-foot head. The pumping unit will primarily be used
to pump river water that may contain abrasive solids out of navigation
lock chambers during maintenance dewatering operations. In addition, a
second motor controller, also incorporating a VFD, identical in
operation and interchangeable with the primary controller shall be
provided under this specification. The motor shall be a squirrel-cage,
induction, shell type design, housed in an air filled, watertight
chamber. The motor shall be rated at 460 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz and
have a minimum of 150 horsepower. Contractor's drawings and data,
factory assembly and tests, instructional manuals, and training are
required. All prospective offerors shall complete a data sheet on their
proposed pump and accessories. Offerors shall also submit complete
descriptive data including shop drawings on all items in sufficient
detail to demonstrate that material and equipment to be supplied are in
compliance with the specifications. Deliver to PEWARS, 3500 Grand
Avenue Neville Island, Pennsylvania within 120 days of contract award.
Written requests for Solicitation DACW59-97-R-0015, are required to be
forwarded to the Contract Specialist. Release of the solicitation is
anticipated for June 30, 1997. Receipt of proposals will be 30 days
from the date of issuance of solicitation. This procurement is 100% set
