The effort shall contain two significant tasks. 2.1.1 The contractor shall define the spray parameters for production of fine metal powders and empirically define the parametric control of product size. The contractor shall use a modified chill block with non stick coating as a substrate to enhance collection efficiency. The contractor shall deliver sufficient quantities of three different powders for appropriate testing (specifically: 100 mg for microstructure and analysis and 100 g for smoke chamber testing). 2.1.2 The contractor shall use plasma or flame spray technology to investigate the potential for coating low density ceramic powders with metals. The ceramic substrates will vary in morphology including, but not limited to; fibers, flakes, and hollow spheres. The contractor shall deliver sufficient quantities of three different coated materials for appropriate testing (100 mg for microstructure and analysis and 100 g for smoke chamber testing). 3.0 Delivery: The contractor shall deliver reports and samples in accordance with the following schedule: 1. Midpoint Report 120 CDAC* 2. Samples for Microstructure Analysis 150 CDAC 3. Sample for Smoke Chamber testing 210 CDAC 4.
