Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Space Science,
Office of Life and Microgravity Sciences and Applications, and Office
of Space Flight are releasing an Announcement of Opportunity (AO
97-OSS-04) entitled Mars Exploration Program 2001 Orbiter, Lander, and
Rover Missions. Selections of proposals through this AO are intended
to provide science investigations for the Oribiter and Rover Missions,
instrumentation for characterization of the Martian radiation and
soil/dust environment, and for investigations using a NASA-provided
descent imaging system. Participation is open to all categories of
organizations, domestic and foreign, including industry, educational
institutions, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other
Government agencies. Upon the release date of June 30, 1997, specific
guidance for proposal preparation will be available electronically from
the World Wide Web by selecting Research Opportunities at:
