41 -- FIELD TESTING FOR STATE-OF-THE-ART ENERGY EFFICIENT HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) SYSTEMS SOL TESTUT-HVAC-PNNL POC Contract Specialist Carol Eaves (205) 895-1124 (Site Code DACA87) The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville (USAESCH) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) are inviting manufacturers to participate in the field testing of their state-of-the-art energy efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment that is new to the federal sector. New technologies are candidates for accelerated deployment in the federal sector and through this demonstration, the application of these technologies is expedited. The demonstration will be conducted at a yet to be determined federal facility. The anticipated application for the equipment is small commercial buildings, including barracks. Specific technologies of interest include (1) packaged dual-fuel heating/cooling technologies, (2) chlorine-free refrigerant technologies, (3) heat pump technologies, and (4) dehumidification systems. Other new HVAC technologies will also be considered. The development and implementation of the program will be a joint effort between USAESCH, PNNL, the selected Government facility, and the contractor. The Government's preference is that the selected contractor(s) provide all necessary materials, equipment, installation, and maintenance for a test period of one year at no cost to the Government; however, all requests submitted will be considered by the Government. PNNL will be responsible for selecting a federal test site, coordinating installation of the equipment, monitoring equipment operation, and collecting and analyzing data. The data will be analyzed and compared to a typical existing unit (specific to the facility) representing traditional technologies to determine what benefit from energy savings could be realized. Data collected will be shared between the parties and may be published upon completion of the test. The results of the test are expected to provide information on energy consumption and demonstrate the applicability of the technology to Government facilities. If you are interested in participating in the field testing of your new HVAC equipment, please submit your written request not later than July 15, 1997. Requests should identify the HVAC technology, your in-kind contribution to the proposed demonstration, and any cost to the Government if your product is selected for testing. If you have any questions concerning this announcement you may contact Mr. Don Hadley (PNNL) at (509-375-3708. Requests should be mailed to: U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville ATTN: CEHNC-CT-S/Carol Eaves P. O. Box 1600 Huntsville, AL 35807-4301 Facsimile number: 205-895-1172 (0161)
