The design of the lamp must be of the Grimm-type design in order to perform research comparing the analytical characteristics of DC and RF glow discharge. NIST intends to purchase this system on a sole source basis in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-2(a)(5) from Leco Corporation of ST. JOSEPH, MICHIGAN. This notice of intent is not a request for proposals. However, interested parties may identify to the contracting officer their interest and capability to satisfy the Government's requirement within 12 days of this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
