NOS BELOW DUE 072597 POC Sharon Tyson, 816-426-7267 X222; Jackie Shewmaker 816-426-7267 X221 The National Weather Service (NWS) plans to issue solicitations to perform the augmentation of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), backup of essential elements of the ASOS, and evaluate the representativeness of ASOS, for ten separate National Weather Service Office locations as follows: NWWR4200800009JAS/Valentine, Nebraska; 51WCNW806009JAS/International Falls, Minnesota; 51WCNW806008JAS/Scottsbluff, Nebraska; 51WCNW806007JAS/Norfolk, Nebraska; 51WCNW806006JAS/St. Cloud, Minnesota; The Government intends to award a separate contract for each location. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified ASOS cooperators to augment and backup essential elements of ASOS on a continuous basis, 24-hours daily. The augmenter program consists of manually adding data to an automated surface weather observation that are beyond the observing capability of ASOS. The backup program consists of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated reported by ASOS. The anticipated performance period isOctober 1, 1997 through September 30, 1998 with one or more twelve month option periods. The Government may award a longer basic contract period contingent upon the availability of funds. Solicitations will be issued on or about July 25, 1997. This a total Small Business Set-Aside.
