necessary to remove and replace approximately 300 sq. ft. of new quarry
tile set in mortar with a new drainage mat and a new waterproof
membrane, install two new deck drains and perform miscellaneous other
associated work. Interested firms are requested to submit written
requests only to the address shown above. Due to the fact that the
Coast Guard is in the process of closing its facilities on Governors
Island, ferry service to the Island will be greatly reduced thus
limiting vehicle access to the Island. Ferries will operate only one
day per week for six hours. Pedestrian access will be maintained via
regularly scheduled Coast Guard vessels. This Request for Proposals is
being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness
Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business
participation and is estimated between $25,000.00 and $100,000.00. The
applicable SIC Code is 1743. Plans and specifications will be
available on or about 27 June 1997. For Minority, Women Owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU)
has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business
enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding
assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to
any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and
payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80%
guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are
available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum
line of credit is $500,000.00. For further information and applicable
