Kruskie, (404) 635-5646. The Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery, Alabama,
intends to award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contracts to
hospitals within a thirty (30) mile radius of the institution for
medical services to include: inpatient, room, board and ancillary
services, outpatients services, medically necessary professional
services as appropriate in a comprehensive package as requested. The
hospital(s) shall make available on a nondiscriminatory basis,
inpatient and outpatient services, in a manner consistent with the
medical needs of the patients in accordance with medical standards for
quality and cost effective patient care. The preferred payment
methodology for these services, which will receive preference in both
award and patient referrals, is the Medicare reimbursement
methodologies in effect at the time services were performed. All
services, usually outpatient, not covered by Medicare, shall be charged
as low or lower than those charged the hospital's most favored customer
for comparable quantities under similar terms and conditions. The
medical care will be for the inmates incarcerated at the Federal Prison
Camp located on Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
Hospitals are requested to contact the contracting officer listed in
this notice. All requests for the solicitation package must be in
writing and include the RFP number, specific contact person and
telephone number. The estimated issue date will be approximately August
12, 1997, with an anticipated receipt of proposal date of approximately
October 15, 1997. The contract will include a base year, not to exceed
twelve (12) months, with the possibility of four (4) unilaterally
exercised option years. This creates the possibility of a five year
contract; however, the Government is not obligated to exercise any of
the option years. The estimated inpatient days are as follows: Base
year minimum -- 20, maximum -- 200; Option Year (1) minimum -- 20,
maximum -- 202; Option Year (2) minimum -- 20, maximum -- 204; Option
Year (3) minimum -- 20, maximum -- 206; Option Year (4) minimum -- 20,
