The Government announces its intent to make a sole-source purchase of L20500R Ski Kits for Sikorsky-made, Blackhawk UH-60 Helicopter from Airglas Engineering Co., Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska. The UH-60 has a conventional wheeled landing gear which provides insufficient weight distribution and resistance to sinking in snow. The installation of skis on the UH-60 is the only known method of ensuring safe landing/takeoff operations in low weightbearing environments (e.g., snow accumulations in excess of 12 inches). The Government's information is Airglas is the sole developer/manufacture of skis fitting the requirement. Airglas skis are an approved Airworthiness Release by US Army ATCOM for this specific type/model of aircraft. Medevac Configuration. These Airglas skis are protected by an exclusive patent. Vendors responding to this announcement must enclose a copy of their Airworthy certification and complete product specifications.***** (0164)
