COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 18,1997 PSA#1869Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Procurement & Grants
Office, Contracts & Purchases Branch, 255 East Paces Ferry Rd, N.E, Rm
419, Atlanta, GA 30305 54 -- ENVIRONMENTAL/SMOKING CHAMBER SOL 97-115(Q) DUE 071597 POC Grace
White, Contract Specialist at (404)842-6553 This action, originally
published in the CBD June 2, 1997, and previously amended once to
extend the due date for quotations from 2:00 PM June 24, 1997 to 2:00
PM July 15, 1997, is amended a second time to incorporate the following
additional questions and answers: (1) What materials are required for
the wall panels? The materials should be hard-surfaced (such as plastic
or rust-proof metal). The composition should not matter, as long as the
stated temperature and humidity levels and tolerances can be met. The
insulation should be sandwiched between the hard surfaces. (2) What is
the required work light intensity (with 70 foot-candles considered as
standard)? Standard work-light intensity is adequate. (3) Is a
compressor/condenser required? Water-cooled or air-cooled? Located
where? A compressor/condenser is required to meet the specifications.
The machinery should be air-cooled. The compressor/condenser will be
located in a conditioned-air room and next to the environmental
chamber. (4) If relative humidity is requested, what type of additive
moisture should be used -- steam or water mist -- and what type of
water will be supplied? Deionized water at room temperature will be
supplied for additive moisture. The vendor's equipment must provide the
means for steaming or misting to meet the required specifications. It
should be noted that steam-production will require additional energy.
(5) If dehumidification is required, what method of control is required
-- refrigeration or desiccant dryer? Refrigeration will be necessary
for dehumidification. It would be too costly to periodically replace
desiccant. (6) Is any shelving or casework required? No (7) What
warranty period is requested? One-year warranty is required with
optional additional warranty period after service training. (8) What is
the desired delivery time? Forty-two days (6 weeks) from award. (0167) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0266 19970618\54-0002.SOL)
