COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 18,1997 PSA#1869ELECTRONIC BID SETS (EBS) ORIENTATION SEMINARS The U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Huntington District, is in the process of transforming its
current paper-based construction solicitation packages into an
electronic format. This project is known as Electronic Bid Sets (EBS).
This new media format will provide our contractor community more
flexibility in preparing bids, sharing solicitation information with
associates, reducing package costs, and allowing for on-screen
take-offs for bid estimates. In order to foster the success of this
transition, the Huntington District will be conducting two EBS
orientation seminars. Each seminar will cover the following topics: 1.
General information and forecasts of the EBS project. 2. Official
contracting and solicitation issues. 3. Technical requirements for
using the new media. 4. Demonstration of a recent District solicitation
package in the new media format. All attendees will be provided with a
CD-ROM containing a recent Huntington District construction project
along with handouts and other materials. At present, two seminars have
been scheduled. Dates and times for these seminars are as follows:
Seminar #1 Date: July 24, 1997 Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Location:
