The Notional Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is seeking interested parties in providing a vessel for a time charter to support National Marine Fisheries Service, Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), fisheries research in the western North Atlantic Ocean September 17, 1997, through September 29, 1997. The vessel will either be delivered adn redelivered in Woods Hole, Massachusetss, or the vessel's homeport (depending upon proximity to the fishing grounds). It will operate between 41degree and 46 degree -30' north latitude, and up to 150 nautical miles off the U.S. or Canadian coasts. It must have an operational endurance of 13 days (cruise can be split, but the vessel may not have an endurance of less than 7 days), a minimum operational range of 1500 nautical miles (can also be split, however, a minimum range of 900 nautical miles is required) and be able to accommodate 3 scientific personnel. It must be capable of maintaining a cruising speed of not less than 7 knots, and a longlining speed of 2 to 6 knots. The vessel shall be equipped and rigged for pelagic longlining. Both an exterior work area for processing the catch, and an interior work area/storage space are required. The vessel is required to be equipped with either GPS/DGPS or LORAN C.
