SOLICITATION NOTICE OF UPGRADING 13 WEST PATIENT CARE UNIT,13th Floor,
NIH, BETHESDA, MD. Work shall be inclusive of, but not limited to the
following: Construction to occur in the entire space as delineated in
the construction documents. Demolition includes drywall, drop
ceilings, casework, mechanical and electrical equipment, associated
wiring and piping. This unit was upgraded many years ago, and requires
asbestos abatement. Work includes renovation of approximately 736
square meters (7,920 square feet) of carpentry, new casework,
mechanical and electrical including installation of race way, air
supply, exhaust system, sound attenuation, cooling equipment, support
piping and wiring to make the space a laboratory unit. Within sixty
days after the contract is awarded, the contractor shall submit all key
submittals and shop drawings for Government review and acceptance. The
notice to proceed with actual construction shall be issued for Jan. 2,
1998 and only after the Government is satisfied with reviewand
acceptance of all key submittals and shop drawings. Actual renovation
performance period will be 180 calendar days. The magnitude of this
fixed-price construction contract is estimated to be between $500,000
and $1,000,000 with the inclusion of two optional requirements. The
basis of award will be the lowest Base Bid which is subject to
availability of funds. The Standard Industry Code (SIC) for this
project is 1542. This is a metric job. Plans and Specifications will be
available on or about July 13, 1997 from the Bid Custodian, 9000
Rockville Pike, Building 13, Room G-800, Bethesda, Maryland at a
non-refundable cost of $75.00. Payment must be in the form of Cashier's
Check, Money Order or Certified Check only. Checks shall be made
payable to the National Institutes of Health. A letter on company
letterhead must be enclosed indicating the address to which all agenda
and communications should be transmitted. Request for the IFB package
must cite the IFB No. 263-97-B(CM)-0243. Telephone requests will not
be accepted. The Pre-Bid Conference/Site Visit will be held on July 28,
1997 at 8:30 a.m. on the NIH campus in Building 13, Room G-800. Bids
will be due on or about August 13, 1997. Any further information
concerning the bid opening will be noted in the IFB. The Standard
Industry Code (SIC) for this project is 1542. -- All responsible
