Library of Congress has a requirement for preparing and microfilming
European language serials, including newspapers in Roman, Greek, or
Cyrillic script. Many volumes or issues may be brittle or deteriorated,
with physical damage, such as torn paper or loose bindings. Many
volumes or issues are in soft bindings or are not bound. One group of
materials which will be microfilmed are U.S. telephone directories from
the early part of the 20th century through the 1980's. Other serials
include periodicals, official publications, and newspapers, both bound
and unbound. Work will be performed off site. Some unbound serials and
periodicals may be fairly recent in orgin. Services required include
packing and shipping issues to work site, collating, preparing
collation records and targets, filming the prepared issues for
production of 35mm master negative, negative and positive microfilm
delivered in labeled, individual reel boxes to the Library and periodic
reports concerning work accomplished. Solicitationswill be issued on or
