The USEPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 6.302, with Leica for an upgrade to a confocal microscope. The Reproductive Toxicology Division (RTD) of NHEERL has a Leica confocal microscope that is part of a core facility for image analysis. The confocal microscope has been used for a wide range of studies to evaluate various flourescent probes in cells, tissues and whole embryos. Because of the variety of demands currently being made on the instrument, and a projected further increase in usage, additional components and upgrades are needed. The contractor shall supply Leica components and computer hardware and software upgrades to ensure total compatibility with the existing Leica confocal system. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS.
