Administration (HRSA) is soliciting proposals to design, test and
implement an evaluation methodology to assess projects funded by the
Centers of Excellence (COE) program. The COE program is designed to
assist health profession schools in supporting programs of excellence
in health education for minority individuals in allopathic medicine,
osteopathic medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. Specifically, the purpose
of the program is to strengthen the national capacity to train minority
students in these health professions, and award funds for improvement
of the quality of target group applicants; enhancement of student
performance; faculty development; curriculum and clinical experiences
relevant to target group health issues; and faculty/student research in
the target group health problem arena. AWARD OF A CONTRACT RESULTING
FROM THIS SOLICITATION IS RESTRICTED UNDER THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE
ACT, SECTION 739, OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE ACT, TITLE 7, WHICH
LIMITS AWARD TO THOSE ACCREDITED SCHOOLS OF MEDICINE, OSTEOPATHIC
MEDICINE, DENTISTRY AND PHARMACY THAT ARE CURRENTLY WITHIN THE COE
PROGRAM. All responsible sources may submit a proposal for
consideration by the Agency. Solicitation number RFP HRSA
240-BHPr-25(7) will be issued on or about July 7, 1997. Closing date
will be on or about August 6, 1997. All requests for solicitation must
be in writing or faxed to 301-443-6038 and cite HRSA RFP
