A -- ACOUSTIC RAPID COTS INSERTION (A-RCI) PHASE IV DEVELOPMENT SOL N00024-97-R-6243 DUE 082997 POC Contracting Officer -- Chris Pigott (703) 602-7703 X656 The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for the development of Phase IV under the Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Insertion (A-RCI) program. A-RCI is a COTS based sonar upgrade with four implementation phases. The first three phases have already been awarded under NAVSEA contract N00024-95-C-6535. Phase IV will be a High Frequency upgrade to the AN/BSY-1 system, which is used on SSN 688I class submarines. Phase IV development is scheduled for completion in FY00. NAVSEA intends to modify contract N00024-95-C-6535 to incorporate Phase IV. This contract was awarded to Loral Federal Systems Company (now Lockheed Martin Federal Systems) in Manassas, VA in January 1995. Lockheed Martin is the primary designer and integrator of the AN/BSY-1 system, the developer of the A-RCI upgrade program, and possesses the unique assets and facilities needed to meet all of the Navy's requirements.
