Greenway Ctr. Dr., #510, Greenbelt MD 20770. The scope of work is to
complete design/engineering from 30% complete to 100% and to construct
a new approximately 20,034 square foot new main post office building
on a 3 acre site. Work includes a retail store, workroom, loading dock
and equipment, support areas, and covered carrier parking. The
building will be constructed using a steel frame, metal stud with brick
exterior walls, concrete slab on grade, four ply built-up roof system,
standing seam metal roofs at building entry and open loading areas,
metal stud and gypsum board interior partitions and acoustical
ceilings. Complete plumbing HVAC and electrical systems will include
roof top units, power, lighting, and alarm systems, two security camera
systems, and fully sprinkled and fire protection systems as required by
local codes and USPS requirements. Also included in the development of
the 3 acre site is parking for customers, employees, postal vehicles,
loading dock maneuvering area, mail drop box lane, and complete
landscaping, fencing and signage. Site development includes
paying/obtaining all permits, tap connections and utility
connections/development. As part of the solicitation, the USPS if
furnishing certain preliminary drawings, surveys and other items to
describe the extent to the quality of the work required. The design and
construction of the subject facility shall meet or exceed the level of
quality indicated in these documents. As part of the work of the
contract, the design/build entity shall verify that any design based
upon the furnished documents fully complies with applicable codes and
ordinances. The estimated price range is between $1,800,000 and
$2,400,00 with completion within 300 calendar days after receipt of the
Notice to Proceed. Proposals are by 4:00 PM on August 4, 1997. Plans
and Specifications will be available on or about July 03, 1997 at a
cost $85.00 and CDs for $30.00 per set, Non-Refundable. Make
