The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport proposes to enter into a sole source order with Namco Controls of Mentor, OH for 14 Left Hand Solenoids (P/N 809381-1) and 10 Right Hand Solenoids (P/N 809381-2). Certification that the items are mercury-free is required. The Government intends to solicit a quotation from Namco and award a firm fixed price order via simplified acquisition procedures before 15 AUG 1997. Required delivery is 15 JAN 1998. Other than Full and Open Competition procedure s are being used because the Government does not possess detailed drawings to the level necessary to permit competition. Namco designed these solenoids and is the only known source- to develop an alternative source would require reconducting extensive operational and reliability testing. (0171)
