58 -- MOBILE RADIO SUBSYSTEM (MRS) SOL DAAB07-97-R-F048 DUE 070797 POC Philip Pao, Electronics Engineer, 908-427-2725 E-MAIL: Mobile Radio Subsystem (MRS), pao@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. Market Survey for Improved Mobile Subscriber Equipment (IMSE) Mobile Radio Subsystem (MRS). The Project Manager, Joint Tactical Area Communications Systems, has been asked by a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customer to investigate sources to enhance/replace the current MRS for the IMSE program. The objective is to achieve equipment/operational performance that equals or exceeds the current IMSE MRS to include size, weight, power consumption and cost. IMSE consists of US Army Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) augmented by proven enhancements to current system components for sale to Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The MRS is composed of the Radio Access Unit (RAU) assemblage and Mobile Subscriber Radio Terminals (MSRT), which provides a complete range of voice and data command and control communication functions for the IMSE subscribers. The MRS provices area coveragae for MSRT radios throughtout the tactical area of operation. The RAU configuration contains a Group Logic Unit, Multicoupler (CU-2391/TRC-191), Transmission Interface Module (TIM), Exportable Trunk Encryption Device, and is configured to accept up to eight MSRT radios. The difference between the IMSE MRS and the MSE MRS is the incorporation of Exportable COMSEC. The IMSE MSRT confguration contains a VHF radio (RT-1539), a Secure Digital Voice Terminal (COMSEC equipment), a vehicular whip antenna (AS-2885/G),the electronic transfer device (COMSEC equipment), and a frequency-fill cable. An installation kit is available to make the MSRT operational and able to be installed in several specific types of military vehicles. The technical prerequisites for the new MRS are: (1) VHF frequency environment (other frequency ranges will be considered); (2)compatibility with the IMSE COMSEC equipment; and (3) full integration into the IMSE system. Changes to associated antennas and ancillary equipment will be considered. For a copy of the detailed MRS description and interfaced documents, contact PM JTACS at (908) 427-2725. Submit responses in writing to PM JTACS; SFAE-C3S-JTC-FMS; Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703. Responses must include equipment name, performance characteristics, logistic support, estimated lead time from contract award to availability, and estimated cost. In addition, responses must provide country of equipment origin, manufacturer, and development status (i.e. NDI, prototype, in production, fully developed but not in production). Responses must also indicate whether the equipment or a variant is in current use by a foreign military organization or foreign government. All foreign organizations using the equipment or a variant must be listed. All responders are also requested to present the above information at PM JTACS no later than 31 July 1997. Presentation by the indivudual vendor will be limited to two hours. Deadline for responses to this notice is 7 July 1997. (0171)
