pyates@usgs.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a
contract by other than full and open competition for production of
digital databases; web sites; user interfaces in ARC/INFO and ArcView
for data analysis and presentation using AML and Avenue programming;
cross platform (PC, Macintosh, and Unix) CD-ROMs for archiving and
distributing digital databases, including software developed in Java,
C, FORTRAN, AML, and Avenue; manuals for these products; and maps,
graphs, images, and derivative coverages from ARC/INFO databases. These
products will integrate and present data collected by various
short-ten-n research projects of the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology
Program located in Menlo Park, CA. The contractor personnel must have
at least the following qualifications and experience: MS degree in
Marine Geology with 5 years experience processing geological and
geophysical data sets in order to use judgement when processing complex
data sets; 6 years experience with Macintosh, Unix, and PC computer
systems, and software packages including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel; 3 years experience
using ARC/INFO and ArcView to create and analyze GIS databases; 3 years
experience programming AML and Avenue for ARC/INFO and ArcView;
developing CD-ROM using ArcView Data Publisher; 4 years programming in
C and FORTRAN; producing web site for a scientific audience; 2 years
web site development using HTML, JAVA, client-side image maps, and
animated GIFS; 4 sidescan sonar mosaics using USGS Mini Image
Processing System (MIPS); 1 year experience creating geologic
interpretations of sidescan sonar imagery; demonstrated ability to
produce high-quality, timely deliverables and accurate work estimates;
knowledge of USGS standards. Expected labor hour type contract for one
year period plus 4 one-year option periods. The USGS intends to
negotiate with Marguerite H. Gowen, San Francisco, CA, the only known
source capable of meeting the requirements, FAR 6.302-1, only one
responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy
agency rauirements. Interested parties should respond in writing within
15 days of publication date of this notice to the contracting officer
