Notice of intention to award a purchase order to Hughes Defense Communications, Fort Wayne, IN for associate contractor technical support to GTE Government Systems, Needham, MA in the development of interface requirements between the Defense Improved Emergency Message Automatic Transmission Systems Replacement Command and Control Terminal (DIRECT) Program and the DIRECT -- Tactical Satellite (TACSAT) Enhanced Manpack UHF Terminal (EMUT). The support shall consist of defining interface requirements, providing source data and providing technical assistance during the preparation of the DIRECT -- TACSAT Interface Control Document (ICD). Authority to procure is pursuant to 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), only one responsible source. This synopsis does not constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation For Bid (IFB) and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
