The complete work includes providing life safety and other (mostly
mechanical and electrical) repairs to Malcom Grow Hospital, AAFB, Camp
Springs, Maryland, Building 1050, to include :a new Elevator Tower and
Acute Care Department/Entrance: plus demolition; asbestos mitigation;
interior partition wall changes (to imiprove medical treatment
functioning and handicaped access); interior finishes; fire
suppression; replacement of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
(HVAC) systems to current criteria; medical gases; plumbing; secondary
power repairs to permit the HVAC systems replacement and meet current
medical equipment requirments; lighting; fire alarm; communication;
and incidental related work to the approximate 304,000 square foot six
floors, nine Wings (A-H&J) of Malcolm Grow Medical Grow Medical Center
Building 1050. This work is defined in detail by three sets of drawings
(563 sheet Life Safety/Utility Upgrade, 30 sheet Repair VFAC System
F-Wing, and 60 sheet Emergency Room drawings sets), common Division 01
through 16 Technical Specifications, and common Division 00 Sections.
The Basic Construction Contract Award will be for all work excepting
two options (i.e. the basic award work covers approximately 201,000
square feet and is segregated by Wings on each of the six floors):
Option One will provide demolition; asbestos mitigation; interior
partition wall changes; interior finishes; fire suppression; heaating,
ventilation and air conditioning; medical gases; plumbing; electrical;
fire alarm; communication; and incidental related work in the
approximate 42,000 sf, Hospital Bldg 1050 interior spaces at the First
Floor E Wing, Basement F Wing, Second Floor H Wing and First Floor A
Wing. Option Two willl provide demolition; asbestos mitigation;
interior finishes; fire suppression; heating, ventilation and air
conditioning; medical gases; plumbing; electrical; fire alarm;
communication; and incidental related work in the approximate 61,000
s.f. Hospital Bldg 1050 interior spaces at the C Wings (with work
through First through Fifth Floors) and Basement and First Floor H
Wings. The Government intents to award a combination firm fixed
price/indefinite quantity contract (vs firm fixed price as previously
announced). The indefinite quantity portion of the contract will allow
the Government to negotiate and award delivery orders for additional
renovations and repairs to the hospital during the term of the firm
fixed price portion at a maximum not-to-eceed $15,000,000. No delivery
ordrs will be awarded after the completion date of the firm fixed
price portion. In addition to the proprietary materials previously
identified, the contract will contain a requirement for the following
proprietary materials (1) one Securitron model EXD-1F Delayed Exit
Device for new Door B112 and (2) six medaes model 3001 Medical Gas
Rails with Series 1 and 2 Couplers and Plugs for Oxygen, Vacuum and
Medical Air. There have been TWO ADDITIONAL ORGANIZED SITE VISITS
SCHEDULED for this project for 30 June and 7 July 1997 at 0900 hours (9
:00 A.M. local time) Individuals wishing to attend must provide their
names, social security number and company name no later than 1500 hours
on the Friday before the desired referenced date. To obtain access fax

attending should allow one hour of processing through the visitors
center prior to the site visit. The due date for receipt of proposals
is 10 July 1997 at 1400 hours (2:00 PM local time). A non-refundabel
charge of $375.00 per solicitation package is required and checks
should be made payable to the Department of the Treasury c/o EFA
Chesapeake. Requests for plans and specifications may be submitted in
writing to: Contracting Officer, EFA, Chesapeake, 901 M Street,
Building 212, 3rd Floor Contracts Department, Washington Navy Yarad,
Washington, DC 20374-5018. Contractors within the local area are
encouraged to pick-up a copy of the solicitation at Building 212,
Washington Navy Yard, Plans and Specifications Office. Solicitation
