West, 907/753-2552/Contracting Officer, Corps of Engineers Description of Work: The project consists of renovating the 96, 561 sf Ben Eielson Junior/Senior High School and adding 12,162 sf of additions to the school. Project includes the demolition of the Taylor Elementary School (Building 5270), Eielson AFB, Alaska. The renovation and additions include, but is not limited to the following items: structural repair to entire school, expand kitchen, cafeteria/multipurpose room, enlarge and relocate library, enlarged administrative area, construct new applied technology center, construct four 94) new senior high classrooms, renovate junior and senior high locker rooms, construct new weight room and gym storage, construct new stage storage area, renovate access to school for ADA compliance, upgrade walls at junior high and new additions with EIFS thermal system. Construct new EDPM roofing membrane over junior high, portions of senior high and new additions roof. Site work for the project includes: paved teacher, public and student parking lots, paved zones for school bus drop off and pickup, exterior site lighting, site landscaping, site signage, surface drainage, service area with depressed loading bay, fire lane, soccer, softball and baseball fields, relocate bleachers, relocate control booth, relocate concession booth, and relocate athletic field score board and billboard. The renovation will include the demolition and addition of utilities feeders to the school. The demolition of Taylor Elementary School will require the removal of asbestos, lead and PCB containing materials.
