Department of Transportation (DOT), Transportation Administrative
Service Center (TASC) has a requirement for telecommunication support
services. This requirement has been set aside for contractors
participating in the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program as an
8(a) competition. The SIC code for this procurement is 4813. The
anticipated contract type is firm fixed price and consists of a base
year, starting 10/1/97 and four option years. It is TASC's intent to
disseminate the solicitation electronically via the Internet. The
solicitation will be posted on the TASC link to the DOT World Wide Web
(WWW) Home Page at "http://www.tasc.dot.gov/acquisitions/". When
connected, select the link titled: "Procurement Opportunities". The
anticipated release date of the formal solicitation is July 18, 1997.
Note that these dates are subject to change and it is the
responsibility of interested parties to periodically check the
solicitation status either through accessing the DOT Home Page or by
calling the above point of contact. If you have any technical

at 202-366-9466. The Government will not distribute hard copies of the
solicitation, unless a request is received electronically via E-Mail
at kevin.mooney@ost.dot.gov, via facsimile at 202-366-9848 or in
writing at the address cited, Attn: Kevin Mooney. Offerors are
encouraged to access the solicitation electronically versus receiving
hard copies as proposals will be due thirty (30) days from release of
the solicitation. DOT anticipates that any amendments to the
solicitation will be disseminated to vendors via the method the
solicitation was received. DOT will not consider telephonic requests.
The solicitation will contain specific instructions for submittal of
questions after release. DOT, Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
