R -- EDUCATIONAL SERVICES SOL RFQ 32-LK-97 DUE 070897 POC Linda Kelly 612-725-2183 Under Statutory Authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Minneapolis, Minnesota, anticipates entering into sole source negotiations with Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York, for educational services. In an effort to meet mandated goals for VA National Patient Representatives stating that they shall receive training in a patient advocacy program that is recognized by the American Hospital Association, the VAMC Minneapolis will contract with Sarah Lawrence College to provide two each 40 class room hours of post graduate education designed around core competencies in their patient advocacy program curriculum. It is believed that Sarah Lawrence College is the only accredited college in the country that offers a degree in patient advocacy. The above authority is cited and justification is made based on the determination that the Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by services available from one source. This is not a formal solicitation. However, concerns that respond should furnish detailed data concerning their capabilities. All responsible parties may submit a proposal. (0176)
