914-737-4400 ext. 2468 Furnish all labor, materials, tools, and
supervision necessary for Project 620-96-117/118, Patient Privacy
Building 6, Wards A, B, C and D (approximately 29,600 total sf) to be
renovated and F.D.R. VA Hospital, Montrose, NY. Work will include, but
not be limited to: Electrical -- All the existing electrical power and
lighting system for the first and second floors will be removed. New
lighting and power system will be installed in compliance with VA and
NEC requirements; Fire Protection -- Fire alarm system will be provided
to the entire building. System shall be multiplex type and in
accordance with NFPA and Life Safety Code Requirements. Building shall
be fully sprinkled in accordance with NFPA 13 and certain special VA
requirements; Plumbing/Sanitary -- New sprinkler service shall be
provided. Existing hot, cold, and return mains shall be replaced with
larger size to accomodate additional service. Additional domestic water
piping shall be provided to accomodate new fixtures. All plumbing
fixtures on first and second floor shown on drawings shall be replaced.
New sanitary main piping shall be provided. Existing storm drainage
shall remain undisturbed; HVAC -- A new chiller and air handler shall
be provided. A combination of DDC controlled fan coils and duct/coil
combinations shall be provided; General -- The existing steel, masonry,
and drywall partitions will be demolished and replaced with drywall
construction. The existing congregate baths and showers will be
demolished and new semi-private bathrooms will be constructed. Existing
flooring and ceiling systems will be replaced. The nursing station,
support areas and dayrooms will be reconfigured to provide extra space
for patient bedrooms. The existing window air-conditioners will be
removed. Any asbestos and/or lead containing materials impacted by
these renovations will be abated as part of this project. PRE-BID
CONFERENCE, including walk-thru, is scheduled for July 29, 1997 at
10:00 AM local time, Bldg. 1, Room 29. Construction cost range is
between $2 million and $5 million dollars. A limited number of bid
packages will be available on or about July 14, 1997 and will be issued
on a first come, first serve basis until supply is exhausted. Mandatory
contract completion time is 560 calendar days. BOD is September 2, 1997
at 2:30 PM local time, and all bidders are expected and urged to
inspect the site where the work will be performed. Requests for bid
documents must be in writing on company letterhead to the Contracting
Officer, address above. No telephone or fax requests will be honored.
This is an unrestricted procurement available to all responsible
sources, and is subject to the availability of FY97 funds. SIC 1542.
