Penny Waltner (617)495-7401 The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory requires the manufacture of 168 steel interface plates for mounting on a concrete foundation. Plates shall be constructed of 76 mm (3") plate steel and shall involve machining of plates to three different designs. The approximate weight of the two smaller designs is 90 pounds and the largest plates weigh approximately 135 pounds. The machining involves tapping an M48 hole in 63 of the plates and painting to provide rust protection. Also required is the mounting of large conical alignment pins in 42 of the plates. Product will be inspected and accepted at the point of manufacture and shipped via GBL to Hilo, HI. Packing for shipment shall be on multiple pallets.
