Y -- PREQUALIFICATION OF CONTRACTORS FOR THREE NEW USPS OWNED BUILDINGS IN DERRY, NH, SHREWSBURY, MA AND TEWKSBURY, MA SOL 082530-97-A-0098 DUE 071597 POC John Nielsen (860) 285-7120 or Richard Whiddon (860) 285-7219 The United States Postal Service is prequalifying general construction contractors to build three new USPS owned facilities in Derry, New Hampshire and Central Massachusetts (Shrewsbury and Tewksbury). A brief description for each building is as follows: Derry, New Hampshire: The building will be located on the intersection of Tersninento Road and Rt. 28 in Derry, New Hampshire. The facility is approximately 21,000 sf and requires extensive site work. The estimated construction cost is between $3.0 million and $3.5 million. The building will have a new postal store and carrier operations. Shrewsbury, Massachusetts: The building is located on the site of the existing Shrewsbury Central Mail Processing plant located on West Main Street in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The facility is approximately 17,000 sf and the estimated cost is between $2.0 million and $2.5 million. The building will be for carrier operations only. Tewksbury, Massachusetts: The building will be located on Main Street in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The facility is approximately 24,000 sf and requires extensive site work. The estimated construction cost is between $2.5 million and $3.0 million. The building will have a new postal store and carrier facilities. To be considered for this prequalification process, a construction firm must have been in business for at least five (5) years and must have successfully completed at least three (3) buildings of a similar size, cost and complexity, within the same time period. Contractors will be evaluated by a committee of USPS architects and engineers and rated on the following factors in descending order: 1) prior construction experience, 2) project management, 3) financial capability, 4) company organization and 5) quality assurance/quality control program. A full explanation for each of these categories can be found in the prequalification package. Contractors must specify in the prequalification package which facilities they wish to be prequalified for. A contractor may choose any number or combination of facilities. Note: The USPS reserves the right to limit the number of construction awards to a prequalified contractor depending upon the capacity of the firm and regardless of the price proposal. Telephone requests will not be honored. There is no charge for this preqaulification package. Prequalification packages are available and are due back to the Windsor FSO no later than Tuesday, July 15, 1997. All contractors will be notified of their status by Wedensday, July 23, 1997. Plans and specifications will be sent to the prequalified contractors free of charge by Wednesday, July 30, 1997 and price proposals are due into the Windsor Facilities Service Office no later than Friday, August 22, 1997.
