e-mail, synopsis @ contracts.nrl.navy.mil. The Naval Research
Laboratory(NRL) has a requirement basic and applied research in the
development and characterization of surface properties of interest to
the Navy. Both on- and off-site support is required in each of the
following ten technical areas: (1) Friction/Wear Testing and Surface
Analysis of Modified Surfaces; (2) Air Purification; (3) Electrode
Interface Chemistry; (4) Chemical and Biological Microsensors; (5)
Interface Modification/Analysis; (6) DNA Sequencing; (7) Dynamics; (8)
Techniques for Drug/Toxin Detection Identification; (9) Non-Ozone
Depleting Chemical Data Base; and (10) Shipboard Auxiliary Systems R&D.
Respondents must demonstrate expertise in surface characterization
diagnostics; carbon based filter media and plasma techniques for the
removal of chemical, biological or radiological hazards from the
atmosphere; modified electrodes, microelectrodes, and dispersion
electrochemistry; chemical microsensors for CBR and environmental
monitoring; surface modification technologiessuch as ion implantation
and chemical vapor desorption; surface reactions associated with
depositions and etching; analytical techniques for the
detection/identification of drugs in bodily fluids; data bases on the
physical, chemical, toxicity and safety, recycling, destruction,
conversation, and other properties of alternatives for ozone-depleting
chemicals; and methods and materials to control or eliminate corrosion
of hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) systems. It is anticipated
that the period of performance for this requirement will be a Base
effort for 12 months with four (4) one-year options. Additional
requirements will be provided in the solicitation. No telephone
requests for this requirement will be accepted. Request for information
