COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 1,1997 PSA#1878US Army CECOM, Command/Control and Systems Integration Directorate,
ATTN: AMSEL-RD-C2-0-RM, BLDG 2525, Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703-5603 A -- MARKET SURVEY FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE GRAPHICS HARDWARE FOR A PC
(PENTIUM) DUE 071497 POC Mr. Peter Csiky This is a market survey to
locate potential sources for a non-developmental high performance
graphics engine to complement the U. S. Army's Aviation Mission
Planning System (AMPS) operating in a Common Hardware/Software (CHS)
Lightweight Computer Unit (LCU) V2A2 (Pentium-90). The purpose of the
graphics hardware is to enable real-time "fly-through" rehearsal of
missions. Firms shall be expected to provide hardware and support
demonstration of their product. The solution must be a
non-developmental item (NDI) with working hardware capable of being
demonstrated by 30 Aug 97 at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. This may lead to a
Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) type contract with an
initial procurements of ten (10) units for full integration with
current and developing AMPS software. Firms will be expected to provide
services for integration. Follow-on procurements would be based on the
needs of operational units. It is the intent of the government to
issue a solicitation for technical proposals and to beon contract by
Oct 1997. The planned basis of award is "Best Value to the Government."
Specific requirements: Render terrain and objects (e.g.: vehicles,
threat domes) at flicker free rates (15+ frames per second). Allow
"free-roaming" over the area of interest (AOI) using a joy stick or
other similar control device. (Pre-processed or playback of "canned"
images are not acceptable). Speed of the "fly-through" must be able to
simulated helicopter speeds (200 knots) as a minimum. Operational
areas of interest may be up to 300 x 300 km terrain with digital
information of up to 1 meter resolution. (Imagery 1m Ground Sample
Distance (GSD) and elevation at 1 meter postings). Hardware must fit in
CHS V2A2 LCU with 1 PCI slot. Hardware must operate in the thermal and
power constraints of the LCU without modification. The AMPS operating
system is SCO Unix V. Only written communications will be accepted at:
Director, U. S. Army Command/Control and Systems Directorate, ATTN:
AMSEL-RD-C2-BC-CC (Mr. Peter Csiky), Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703-5603 or
e-mail to: csikyp@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. Firms wishing specific
details of the LCU hardware, or to participate in this survey should
send a written description and characterization of their product
(hardware and software drivers) and approach to no later than fifteen
(15) days after publication of this notice. This synopsis is for
informational and planning purposes only, does not constitute a
solicitation, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the
government. (0178) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0022 19970701\A-0022.SOL)
