NASA/JSC is interested in finding sources capable of providing a Commandable Wireless Video system for use and integration into the Space Shuttle, the Space Station and Extravehicle Activity Mobility Unit (space suit). Responders should have experience with integrated RF-video systems with a strong emphasis on small size and weight, low power usage, ruggedization, and full antenna coverage. The system will be used externally in a space environment which includes harsh radiation, thermal, microgravity and vacuum and will experience multiple Shuttle launch loads including harsh vibrational requirements. Multiple cameras may be selected and up to two video signals will be transmitted and received simultaneously. Telemetry is highly desirable. Commanding as a minimum will include control of lighting, camera iris, focus, zoom, shutter speed, transmitter on/off, individual camera on/off, camera selection, antenna selection plus multiple spare control capability for other functions. Commands will be sent fromthe ground via the Shuttle or Space Station as well as on-orbit. The operating frequency range is 2.2 -2.3 GHz range for video and 900-950 MHz for command. This system will be required for use September 1998. Submit a description of the products your firm can offer to JSC no later than July 25, 1997.
