will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of IMPROVE FAMILY
HOUSING -- PHASES 4 AND 5, MINOT AFB, NORTH DAKOTA. Bids will be opened
on or about 19 August 1997. This solicitation is unrestricted and open
to both large and small business participation. Contractors interested
in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Minot
Project Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bldg. 132, Minot AFB,
ND 58701, Telephone: (701) 727-6127. FAX (701) 727-6128. The work will
include the following: (Approx. quantities) Improvements and repairs
to 202 family housing units (101 duplex buildings) for Junior and
Senior Noncommissioned Officers [18 -- 2 bedroom, 152 -- 3 bedroom, 32
-- 4 bedroom]. Improvements and repairs vary between unit types.
Building Removals include: concrete stoops and foundations; exterior
stud bearing walls, gypsum wallboard and metal siding; sheet vinyl
flooring and mastic; vinyl asbestos tile, vinyl composition tile;wood
strip flooring; wood stairs; wood flooring; subfloor and floor joists;
windows; asphalt shingle roofing; modified bitumen roofing. New
Building Work includes: concrete foundation and footings; 4-inch
concrete slabs on grade; concrete entry steps; concrete patios;
concrete stoops; garage doors; wood framing for windows, doors, walls,
and floor; floor joists; exterior wall and sound batt insulation;
asphalt shingle roofing; modified bitumen roofing; flashing and metal
gutters; metal siding; plastic clad wood windows; mailbox; ceilings;
wood stairs; kitchen cabinets and countertops; shelving; handrailing;
bathroom, kitchen and dryer exhaust; electrical lights, outlets and
panels. Site Work includes: removal of shrubs, pavement and walkways;
bituminous and concrete driveways; patios and decks; trees and shrubs
for housing units and playground; storm drainage and sanitary sewerage
for playground area. The estimated design and construction cost of
this project is between $10,000,000 and $25,000,000. Contractor's
Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor
will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to
proceed and complete the work within 1080 calendar days after receipt
of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated
damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed.
Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and
specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be
provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of
Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications
will not be provided in a printed hard copy format. Contractors may

information changes during the advertisement period, resubmit the
information. Failure to provide information changes may cause a delay
