Mueller, 601-688-1706 REVISED NOTICE: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Reference Request for Quotation Number 40QANW700188. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. This is not a small business set-aside. The following provisions apply -- 52.212-2 Evaluation -- Commercial Items; 52.212-5 Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders -- Commercial Items. A completed copy of 52.212-3 Offeror Representations and Certifications -- Commercial Items, also applies and therefore must be included with your offer. There is only one contract line item as follows: (1) A212/85A Dryfit battery with the following specifications: highly reliable 12-volt, rechargeable photovoltaic batteries for all buoy and short station installations. Must be extended life 85 ampere-hour minimum units that are specifically designed for use in photovoltaic or similar power systems and be capable of operating in a trickle charge or cyclic charge/discharge mode for a normal deployment period without degradation of performance. The manufacture of the battery shall be such that it is a totally sealed unit with a gelled lead-acid electrolyte and be of such construction that no electrolyte will leak out if the case gets cracked. Must be able to be installed and operated in any mounting orientation and be fully certified for air or surface shipment without restriction. The batteries must have a low self-discharge during storage such that they retain at least 50% of their charge after normal storage for 12 months. Operational life shall be 8-10 years, normally accrued in deployments of 2-4 years at a time. Specifications are as follows: Nominal Operating Voltage -- 12 volts DC, Electrolyte -- Gelled Lead Acid; Self-discharge rate: less than 4% per month; Operating temperature range: -20 to +50 degrees centigrade; Size limitation: max. length -- 13.0 inches; width -- 7.5 inches; height 10.0 inches and Weight limitation: maximum 75.0 pounds. Quantity required -- 200 each. NOTE: Batteries cannot be more than 12 months old from the date of delivery, as indicated by the manufacturer's date code stamped on their cases. Descriptive literature is requested. Responses are due 08/27/97 at 4 o'clock local time at National Data Buoy Center, Building 1100, Room 360, Stennis Space Center, MS 39529.
