Gladys Grebner (309) 681-6612 The U.S. Department of Agriculture,
Agriculture Research Service, Peoria, IL 61604 has a requirement to
purchase a one table top laboratory fluid bed processor. This is a
combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a
written solicitation will not be issued. This is being issued as a
Request for Quotation. This solicitation document and incorporated
provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition
Circular 90-46. This solicitation is 100% small business set-aside SIC
#3594, 500. CLIN 0001 STREA-1 table-top laboratory fluid bed processor
or equal, 1 each. The above shall be capable of continuous,
uninterrupted fluidization with filter purging, including a seamless,
transparent plexiglass container with an integral transparent
plexiglass expansion area. Housing must be made of cast aluminum with
blue hammertone finish. Housing must contain coarse dust filter for
cleaning the incoming air, device for hinging the upper part of the
apparatus including toggle lock, frame gasket made of neoprene for
sealing the product container to the apparatus housing, pressure
reduction valve with pressure gauge for setting the blowback pressure,
electrical panel fitted with the following instruments: digital
indicator for exhaust air temperature, digital indicator/controller for
drying temperature, electronic timer 0-99 min, two-position blowback
actuator, fan control, set of accessories each consisting of: pressure
regulator, atomizing air regulator and gauges, set of pressurized
pipelines, set of differential pressure gauges to measure air flow
(0-130 m3/H, pressure drop across product and bottomplate (0-300mm),
pressure drop across exhaust air filter (0-300mm). Product container
must be made of plexiglass in conical/cylindrical execution with 3
holes for the installation of a two-fluid nozzle at various heights.
Three plugs must be included for use when the nozzle is not being used.
Product container must have a bottom made of stainless steel no. 304,
60 mesh. Product container must have a distributor plate made of
stainless steel 316 with a free cross-section of 8% including
vulcanized rubber for sealing the container to the apparatus base.
Product container must have a set of exhaust air filters made of 20
micron nylon for filtering the exhaust air. Product container must have
filter supports made of stainless steel 316 for securing the exhaust
air filter, including 4 filter baskets. Product container must have one
schlick nozzle head made of stainless steel including the necessary
pressurized pipelines. Product container must have two fluid nozzle
tips made of stainless steel with hole diameter of .8mm. Product
container required to have a filling weight from 0.2 to 2.0 kg.
Electronic timer to be included capable of 0-99min run time. Both
installation and operator training shall be provided by the bidder. The
bidder shall replace or repair defective equipment for a period of at
least 1 year after purchase and delivery. Delivery to be within 30 days
after receipt of order to USDA, ARS, MWA, Peoria, IL 61604. The
resultant contract will be FOB destination. FAR 52.212.1, Instructions

be evaluated on price and price related factors. Offerors offering
"equals" should submit descriptive literature for evaluation. All items
are tax exempt. Offers are to be received not later than the close of
business, July 21, 1997 at USDA-ARS-MWA, contracting office., 1815 N.
