DACW41) COMPETITION WILL BE LIMITED TO 8(A) FIRMS. ALL OTHER FIRMS ARE
INELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT OFFERS. THIS WILL BE A FIRM-FIXED PRICE AWARD
CONTRACT. The Former Nebraska Ordnance Plant (NOP), an approximate
17,250 acre National Priorities Listed (NPL) site, was a bomb, rocket
and shell assembly facility during World War II and the Korean
Conflict. The site is located in eastern Nebraska between Highway 92
and 63 near the town of Mead. Much of the site is currently owned by
the University of Nebraska for agricultural research and development
activities. The site consists of four (4) ordnance load lines, each
load line consisting of approximately 40 buildings connected by covered
walkways or ramps and approximately 100 earth-bermed storage bunkers.
The buildings are typically constructed of thick concrete masonry units
or heavily reinforced concrete walls with asbestos roofing. Some
buildings are multi-level, with miscellaneous structural appurtenances
such as worker escape chutes, mechanical rooms, concrete troughs and
settling basins located at or below grade directly adjacent to
buildings, etc.. The buildings have not been maintained and are in
various states of disrepair. The work will include, but not be limited
to: demolition of the buildings, covered ramps, appurtenances and
earth-bermed storage bunkers; handling of the asbestos containing
roofing in accordance with state and federal regulations; air
monitoring; removal of concrete slabs, foundations and troughs; and
disposal of the demolition debris in an appropriate manner. None of the
site materials to be demolished/removed are considered RCRA hazardous
waste. THIS PROJECT IS SUBJECT TO INCREMENTAL FUNDING. The solicitation
will be issued on or about July 18, 1997. Bids will be due on or about
August 21, 1997. SIC CODE: 8744. Estimated time of completion: 730
Calendar Days. Estimated cost of proposed procurement: Between
$10,000,000 and $25,000,000. Cost of plans and specifications: Full
Size Drawings is $70.00 per set, Half Size Drawings is $45.00 per set
(NON-REFUNDABLE). PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL
PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED IN THIS OFFICE. Make check payable to Corps
