cannellt@acccons.langley.af.mil. ACC Contracting Squadron is issuing
a draft/sources sought synopsis for nonpersonal services to provide
Linguistic/Interpreter support for Combat Air Forces in Southwest Asia
(SWA) including, but not limited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA),
the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait (KU). The contractor shall
provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and
other services necessary to locate, screen, hire, and maintain 15 (ea)
Linguists/Interpreters capable of interpretation and translation of
modern standard Arabic to English and vice versa. Linguists shall also
be capable of translating and producing Arabic language documents, and
other material. Interpreter/Linguists will provide this support to Air
Force Security Police in SWA as they conduct their duties. Linguists
shall be capable of the following: performing clear and concise
expression in writing and speaking; produce idiomatic translations of
non-technica! l material us! ing correct syntax and speech; con duct
consecutive, accurate translations of on-going
conversations/activities; familiar with local culture and customs and
able to conduct themselves accordingly; dealing unobtrusively with the
local populace; conduct themselves in accordance with the standards of
conduct prescribed in USAF instructions, this contract, and the laws of
the host nation; may be required to live and work in harsh desert
environment, to include living and working in temporary facilities
(tents and trailers); serve during a level of heightened state of
threat; function effectively during periods of high pressure and
stress; maintain professional demeanor at harsh scenes; functioning as
an integral member of a team of highly trained professionals; assist
in basic office administration (answering phones/doors, writing
reports, word processing); driving government leased vehicles.
Contractor personnel will be expected to work a 40 hour normal work
week and an! estimated 32 hours per mont! h i n excess of normal duty
hours. Linguists will also be oncall 24 hours a day and shall be
available within short notice. Contractor personnel shall possess no
less than a SECRET clearance, shall be a United States National, shall
possess a valid US driver s license, a valid US passport, appropriate
country visas, and an international driver s license. All interested
