COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 3,1997 PSA#1880GFCI DEVICE TESTER The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), its
laboratories, and production facilities are committed to helping
businesses in the United States to improve the cycle from new ideas and
product innovation to product development and commercialization. In
order to achieve this goal, the DOE has put in place a program to
transfer technologies developed at its laboratories to the private
sector for commercial applications. DOE's objective in doing this is to
establish mutually beneficial partnerships that can leverage advanced
technologies and enhance U.S. position in the ever changing global
marketplace. Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) is one of the
participating laboratories in this program. By this announcement,
Sandia is soliciting expressions of interest from U.S. businesses for
potential collaboration and licensing in the following technology for
which patent application has been filed. Sandia has developed an
improved GFCI device tester which measures and plots the trip current
and trip times of a GFCI device using claibrated components and
circuitry. In addition, it also collects and saves data pertaining to
a GFCI device and to plot the data on a lifr code safety curve and
develop a trend for each GFCI device to provide an indication of futurr
reliability. The invention can be used to test GFCI devices such as
those found in wall mounted receptacles, panel-mounted breakers,
end-of-cord breakers, and multiple-outlet extension cord type breakers,
and is particularly useful in critical industrial applications. This is
not a solicitation. Interested parties are invited to submit a letter
of interest providing information about the company, intended use of
the invention, in its business and the point of contact (including
name, address, telephone and fax numbers) to: Ms. Joanne Trujillo, MS
