The project consists of the construction of a new Post Office on a 5.88 parcel of undeveloped land. The demolition portion involves clearing the site and minor paving removal for the approaches. The new building consists of a concrete grade beam and spread footing foundation with slab on grade. The building shell is a steel frame structure, with bar joists and a metal deck. The exterior skin consists of stucco on gypsum sheathing and metal studs, masonry and limestone, with precast concrete belt course and accents. Aluminum storefronts and windows are also included in the building facade. The main building has a combination of a modified bitumen roof and standing seam metal roof, and there are metal roof canopies over the exterior carrier walks. The interior spaces consist of a retail store, post office box lobby, workroom, platform area, support areas, and maintenance spaces. The interior partitions are gypsum board. The project will also include a new electrical service and its distribution system, plumbing, an HVAC system using rooftop units, and a closed circuit TV system. The sitework includes utility service connection and distribution, concrete paving, retaining walls, landscaping and irrigation work, and fencing. The site is located on FM 1431 (East Whitestone Boulevard) near the intersection of Quest Parkway and Discovery Boulevard in Cedar Park. Estimated cost range $2,300,000.00 -- $2,500,000.00 and construction time is 270 calendar days. Successful offeror must submit their Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned, and Woman-Owned Business initially and thereafter with their progress payment requests. The contractor must subcontract with minority business firms in an amount aggregating not less than 10% of the total value of its subcontracts. A 20% proposal bond is required on all proposals. The successful contractor will be required to provide 100% Performance and 50% Payment Bonds within forty-eight (48) hours after notification of award. Offers will be received in this office, prior to, but not later than 3:30 p.m. on August 7, 1997. Proposal documents, plans and specifications will be available on July 7, 1997 at a cost of $125.00 per set (NON-REFUNDABLE) payable by check or money order only. Checks or money orders must be made payable to: PROFESSIONAL DESIGN GROUP. Since this is a request for proposals, offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the identity of the offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative standing of offeror will not be disclosed to anyone until after award of a contract is made and the request is submitted in writing. The U.S. Postal Service currently has the following projects advertised for construction: Austin, TX -- Lake Travis Branch and Pflugerville, TX -- MPO. Although each project will be awarded separately, it may be in the best interest ofthe Postal Service to make multiple awards if there are cost savings. Offerors are encouraged to submit proposals on multiple projects of any number and combination of their choosing.
