2010 AFCEA INFORMATION SUPERIORITY CONFERENCE On August 7, 1997, AFCEA
International joins forces with the Office of the Assistant Secretary
of Defense (C3I) to present a one-day conference entitled "Information
Superiority: Achieving Joint Vision 2010" to be held at the BDM
International Conference Center, 1501 BDM Way, McLean, Virginia. The
program was developed with the assistance of conference chairman Mr.
John L. Osterholz, Deputy Director C4I Integration Support Activity,
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (C3I). Attendees will hear
about the role of Information Superiority as the DoD addresses the
acquisition, operational and integration dimensions of Joint Vision
2010. They will learn: What Information Superiority and Joint Vision
2010 are about, How Information Superiority will guide DoD procurement
decisions, Where potential business opportunities in Joint Vision 2010
exist, and What's working, what isn't, and where the DoD needs help.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: General DENNIS J. REIMER, Chief of Staff, United
States Army, is confirmed as the government keynote speaker, and Mr.
PHILIP A. ODEEN, President and CEO, BDM International, is confirmed as
the industry keynote speaker. PROGRAM SUMMARY: The conference will
consist of four sessions. MG Charles Thomas, USA, Commander, U.S. Army
Intelligence School and Ft. Huachuca, AZ, will serve as the chairman
for the first session. Session One will explore how recent real world
and exercise experiences are forming the basis for investment decisions
across the DoD through the Quadrennial Defense Review and the National
Defense Review. Session Two will be chaired by Mr. Anthony Valletta,
Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (C3I), and will examine the
latest initiatives in the DoD focused on streamlining the acquisition
of information superiority, managing program interdependencies, and
improving the interoperability of deployed capabilities and commercial
services. Session Three will be chaired by COL Thomas McLaulin, USA,
Chief, National and Joint Warfare Team C4I Integration Support
Activity, OSD. Through the eyes of the on-scene commanders and those
charged with implementing Joint Vision 2010, this session will examine
how information operations change the way U.S. forces execute the
increasingly varied missions assigned to them. Session Four will be
chaired by Dr. Marvin Langston, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy
for Command, Control, Theater and Information Warfare. This session
will focus on the special opportunities and challenges inherent in
achieving integration and interoperability and current DoD initiatives
needed to "operationalize" the Joint Vision 2010 system of systems.
