Fairchild Building -- 7th Floor, 499 S. Capital Street, S.W.,
Washington, DC 20024 66 -- HIGH PURITY GERMANIUM DETECTOR IN A ULTRA LOW LEVEL BACKGROUND
CONFIGURATION WITH A LOW BACKGROUND LEAD SHIELD SOL 97-4 DUE 072597 POC
Rodney P. Magee, Contracting Officer, (202)260-6455 E-MAIL: Rodney
Magee, Contracting Officer, Magee.Rodney@epamail.epa.gov. The
Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement for a High Purity
Germanium Dectector in a ultra low level background configuration with
a low background lead shield. This Dectector must meet the following
specification: 1). The Guaranteed Relative Efficiency must be greater
than 80%; 2). The Detectable Energy Range must be 40 keV to 10 MeV; 3).
The Guaranteed Resolution must be less than or equal to 2.1 keV FWHM @
1.332MeV and/or less than or equal to 1.2 keV FWHM @122keV. No
Prototypes will be acceptable for this procurement. The Detector for
this instrument will be a High Purity Coaxial. The contacts are
diffused lithium and implanted boron. The End Cap for this instrument
shall be designed to ensure high geometric efficiency and made from
99.999% pure aluminum. The Uranium and Thorium composition contains
less than one part per billion. he end cap will be constructed seamless
to ensure long reliabilit vacuum integrity. The end cap will allow for
depth of Marinelli configurations with no interferences. The end cap
will not exceed 3.75 inches in diameter. The Vacuum Chamber will be
fabricated from 99.99% pure copper. The Detector mount cup and
components should be constructed of high purity copper. Detector to
entrance window distance should be nominally set to 3mm. The
preamplifier on the J-type and U-style Cryostat will be remotely
located for a ultra low background configuration. The Dewar must have
a Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) capacity of 30-32 liters with a loss rate of
approximately 0.5-0.6 liters per day. Setyup for J-type or U-Style
integration with preamplifier mounted for ultra low level background
configuration. The lead shielding for this instrument must be between
four to six inches thick. The support stand or table for this
instrument must be pre-manufactured. All items listed for this
instrument must have a minimum of one year return to factory warranty.
Delivery Date of these items is guaranteed to be no more than 90 days
from ordering. Simplified Acquisition Procedures will be utilized in
selecting qualified vendors. Written inquireis may be utilized via
facsimile to (202)260-6455 or via E-mail to Magee.Rodney
