Ruby Sugg, Cincinnati Contracts Management Division,
sugg.ruby@epamail.epa.gov. The Urban Watershed Management Branch (UWMB)
of the Water Supply and Water Resources Division (WSWRD) of EPA's
National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) is soliciting
quotations on conducting a pilot-scale evaluation of an ultraviolet
(UV)-generated chlorine dioxide high-rate disinfection technology for
combined sewer overflow (CSO) or sanitary sewer overflow (SSO). In
addition, the contractor shall provide recently collected information
on several other new high-rate disinfection technologies such as:
ozonation, chlorine dioxide, UV light irradiation, and high-voltage
electron beam irradiation. A summary report that contains all
information generated by the project shall be provided. The
contractor/vendor shall have experience with high-rate and conventional
disinfection technologies for CSO or SSO and be an active participant
in a demonstration/evaluation effort of high-rate disinfection
technologies for CSO or SSO, as well. The disinfection technologies
should be of pilot-scale size, within the approximate capacity range of
50 to 200 gpm, and be either installed or planned to be installed
within the next six months at an existing wastewater treatment plant
(WWTP) that treats combined or sanitary sewage during wet weather
events. The demonstration/evaluation effort should include a UV-
generated chlorine dioxide unit and two or more units of different
disinfection technologies of interest such as UV light irradiation and
high-voltage electron beam irradiation. The units should be connected
or planned to be connected within the next six months to the influent
and/or effluent of the WWTP primary clarification facility. The
estimated duration of this effort is twenty four months from date of
award. EPA intends to issue a request for a written quotation (RFQ).
The RFQ-OH-97-00243 will be issued on or about July 21, 1997 with
written quotations due on or about August 1, 1997. All responsible
sources may submit a written quotation which will be considered by the
Agency. Requests for the RFQ must be in writing. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS
WILL BE ACCEPTED. E-mail or faxed requests are acceptable. The fax
