COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 8,1997 PSA#1882DENMARK: STATUTORY ORDER ON THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND THE NORDIC
ECOLABEL The following notification is being circulated in accordance
with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.272. 1. Member to Agreement
notifying: DENMARK. If applicable, name of local government involved
(Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Environment
and Energy. Agency or authority designated to handle comments
regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3.
Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where
applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be
provided in addition, where applicable): The proposals concern the
administration of the European and the Nordic Ecolabel. Ecolabels may
be awarded for all products and services, where the European Commission
or the Nordic Ecolabelling Board has or will decide a set of criterias.

Statutory Order on the European Commission and the Nordic Ecolabel. 6.
Description of content: The structure for the organization of the
European and the Nordic Ecolabelling Scheme by establishing a national
ecolabelling board, a secretariat and a coordination committee.
Procedure for awarding and use of ecolabels, control and inspection,
collection of fees, etc. 7. Objective and rationale: Denmark has
implemented the European Ecolabelling Scheme, which is implemented by
Regulation 880/92/EOF. Furthermore, Denmark is a part in the Nordic
Ecolabelling Scheme. The administration of the schemes will be managed
by an appointed board in cooperation with a private organization
(miljoma~erkesekretariatet"), consequently it is necessary to establish
rules. Concerning the administration of the European Ecolabel,
consideration will be taken to the ongoing process of revision. 8.
