U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) shall issue a Request for
quotation for water treatment services for the closed loop, hot/chilled
water and cooling tower systems located in several locations at the
USMMA. The contractor shall perform a complete survey of the closed
systems and cooling towers. The contractor shall use the survey to
draft and execute a comprehensible water treatment program. This
program shall include all labor, equipment, and materials required for
the implementation of a regular monthly scheduled maintenance water
treatment service. The Contractor shall be fully insured and shall be
covered for the use of all chemicals related to water treatment service
including hazardous and non hazardous material handling. The initial
period of performance shall be 10/1/97 through 9/31/98 with the
possibility of four option years. This procurement is a 100% Small
Business Set Aside, see numbered Note 1. For Minority, Women Owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU),
has a program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance
for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STEP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
