The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests proposes to award a contract for heavy maintenance/rehabilitation of Virginia Creeper Bridges 20, 25 and 26. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials and transportation to complete heavy maintenance/rehabilitation of Virginia Creeper bridges as shown on drawings and in accordance with specifications. The Virginia Creeper is a rail-trail. The trail is now used for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. The trail is also used by light vehicles for maintenance and rescue. No structural modifications to bridges shall be allowed without prior Forest Service review and approval. All approved structural modifications shall be returned to their original configuration unless specifically directed by Forest Service. The bridges are located on the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in Marion, Virginia. (0188)
