AMC Contracting Flight intends to issue a solicitation for 57 portable handheld imagers with the following specifications/requirements: Must be self-contained; weigh no more than 5 lbs including internal battery; capable of resolving a human being at up to 500 meters and a vehicle at up to 1500 meters; effective in all weather conditions during daylight and darkness, in all types of terrain; have built-in video output and an RS 170 video output for remote viewing; be thermo-electrically cooled; be able to scan across a single field of view at a system resolution equal to .80 mr; have a single field of view of 15 degrees horizontal times 7.5 degrees vertical with a two times and four times electronic zoom; be capable of into-operation time of 25 seconds from a cold start; and powered by non-rechargeable lithium sulfur dioxide battery with a capacity of operating for 6 hours on one battery. Imager must also be equipped with and capable of operating on both vehicle power adapter and AC power converter along with AC power receptacle adapters to support worldwide use. A hard transportation case capable of storing the imager, all its accessories plus at least two disposable batteries must be included. The solicitation will require delivery to Fort Dix, NJ within 90 days of contract award. The Request for Proposal (RFP) FA4452-97-R-0015 is anticipated to be released on or about 8 Aug 97.
