following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article
10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.274. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: CANADA. If

language(s) of the notified document: Proposed Amendment to the Energy
Efficiency Regulations (pages 1770-1797). 6. Description of content:
The Regulations Amending the Energy Efficiency Regulations ("the
Amendment") will provide a more precise definition of "electric motor"
than that contained in the Energy Efficiency Regulations which came
into effect on 3 February 1995. The Amendment alsocontains more
stringent energy efficiency standards for motors. Reporting
requirements have been revised to reduce the burden on dealers, and
requirements pertaining to the import of non-compliant products that
will subsequently be exported have also been revised. 7. Objective and
